Have you ever heard about or been to “The Happiest Place on Earth” also known as Disneyland? Disneyland is a well known amusement park located in Anaheim, California and was first created by Walt Disney. Walt Disney first opened up this theme park in 1955 to create a place for people to have fun in an immersive theme park. Soon after this, California Adventure (a theme park right across from Disneyland) was opened as Walt Disney wanted to expand his parks. During these years, many people who visited these two parks have been creating many fun memories and have had a really enjoyable experience. However, over the past years, the prices for Disneyland tickets have only been going up which makes people think if it really worth it to keep going and if it should still be considered as “The Happiest Place on Earth”.
The increasing Disneyland ticket prices have gone up so high that people compare it to saving money for planning a trip for a vacation. According to Fortune, when Disneyland first opened, it was really cheap and would cost each person only $1 (About $11.50 today) to get into the parks. People had to pay to get onto each ride back then with it costing $.10/ride for children and $.23/ride for adults. However, as time passed since Disneyland opened, people have just been seeing the ticket prices rising and rising. Over a couple of years, the cost of Disneyland tickets would rise about $6 to $15/year which eventually made it too expensive for people to purchase. The cost of tickets today vary from $104/day for each person to even $155/day for each person which is a big increase in price compared to when it first opened. These increasing ticket prices have led to mixed opinions on how expensive Disney can actually be and has had people questioning if they should visit again in the future.
Since many people have mixed opinions on this topic, Katelyn Ho, a sophomore at Mark Keppel, has said that she thinks the increasing Disneyland prices are bad and that she was upset about this. To add on to this, she states that she doesn’t want Disneyland to keep increasing their prices because of the problems it causes to people. Rubi Guzman, another sophomore at Mark Keppel, stated that she thinks it’s too pricey and costs too much money to be able to go to Disneyland. With this being said, she would not be willing to spend a little bit over $100 just to be able to go to Disneyland for one day. With these things being said, these two interviewees are correct as if Disney just kept raising the prices to get into their theme parks, then people who visit often, would stop visiting and paying. With this being said, Disneyland would be losing many loyal fans who often visit the parks if they just kept making their prices higher and higher.
Most people are very upset about this issue happening and a lot of people are upset about this because Disneyland is already very expensive, but the increasing prices have led to more anger about this issue. The increase in tickets, souvenirs, and staying at the park have also brought attention to people. This again, makes many people upset because of how much they are already spending at Disney and the surge of prices are making people more angry about the money they are spending at the parks. However, with all these negative reviews, many people from around the world are also proud to spend their money on Disneyland and don’t think that it costs too much money. People have stated that the prices for Disneyland tickets are worth it especially because of the quality that you get and also since it would cost about the same as any other fun experiences. People who have bought the Magic Key also believe that it could be worth it if you get to go to Disneyland a lot. Overall, even though many people online have been disappointed with the costs, many people are still fine with these prices and are still willing to visit.
