Are you brave enough to face what’s waiting for you at Halloween Horror Nights? Halloween Horror Nights is an annual Halloween event at Universal Studios Theme park. Once the Halloween season begins, Universal Studios sets up 8 mazes with different themes. Instead of doing the Studio Tour, they turn it into the Terror Tram. Some fan-favorite mazes make a return which attracts people to go with themes like The Exorcist, The Weeknd Nightmare Trilogy, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and more. It is so popular that the estimated number of people that attend is 30,000 to 35,000 each night.
In an interview with junior Julia Ayala, she said she enjoyed horror nights. “It was my first time so I really didn’t know what to expect really.” She states it was in the middle of scare level. “Sometimes it was just jump scares but the mazes were the scariest part.” Her favorite mazes were the Insidious and Dead Exposure. She really liked the insidious one because Insidious is her favorite movie and she liked the theme of the toxic waste for Dead Exposure.
Celeste Castaneda is a junior at Mark Keppel. When asked about her opinion on Horror Nights, she said she liked it. “It was lots of fun, it made it worth my while.” She said she didn’t go last year, but she wished she did. “My favorite maze was the Chainsaw Massacre because it had an interesting theme.” To her, the Terror Tram was fun and made her whole experience more exciting.
Julian Beltran, a senior at Mark Keppel, however, thought Horror Nights was okay this year compared to previous years, but that it was still fun. He said, “ It wasn’t that scary to me, it really depends on the mazes so it wasn’t that scary this year.” He said Horror Nights was better last year, but the mazes this year were better to him. “Dead exposure is my favorite maze and so is Insidious.” He liked the Terror Tram this year, but felt it was better two years ago when it was The Purge.
Halloween Horror Nights continues to stay a popular event, despite some people having mixed feelings about. While some people say it is too scary for them, others think it isn’t scary at all. What are your opinions on this year’s Halloween Horror Nights?
