Following much love after releasing her latest, most popular album, “GUTS,” Olivia Rodrigo, a very well-known singer, shortly published a movie regarding her “GUTS” concert. On February 23 this year, the first show of this tour happened in Palm Desert, California. The show ran for around two hours and 30 minutes and ended up playing its last concert on Oct 22 this year in Sydney, Australia. Many fans were sad to see this beloved concert end while also speculating a movie based on it as they saw cameras filming the concert. On Oct 2, the rumors became true when Olivia Rodrigo announced that this film was going to be appearing on Netflix. She ended up releasing the movie, “Guts Tour” on Netflix on Oct 29 and many fans who couldn’t attend her showings were happy to be able to see it on Netflix.
Olivia Rodrigo is a very well-known American singer who composes amazing and relatable music. Not just as a singer, she is also a great actress who has starred in many Disney Channel shows when she was younger. Her first role was Paige in “Bizaardvark” on Disney Channel from 2016 to 2019 along with her latest role as Nini in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.” “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” is another Disney show inspired by the original High School Musical movies. In 2019, the first season of this show came out and ended on Aug 9, 2023. Rodrigo starred in the first three seasons of this series before deciding to leave the show to pursue her music career. She ended up releasing her first album, “Sour,” on May 21, 2021, following her latest album, “Guts,” on September 8, 2023.
Rodrigo’s movie captures the fun and exciting thrill of her “GUTS” concert which made many fans happy. It was also a great experience for many fans to watch the movie from the comfort of their own home. During the concert, there were a variety of songs from her first album, her new album, and some fan favorites, which she has written to make the shows more special. At the concert, her fan interactions also touched fans as they got to experience being with, as well as “meeting” Olivia Rodrigo herself. Rodrigo created very special moments with her fans such as saying hello to them around the stadium. The concert was very lively and filled with emotions. Fans were able to scream to her songs as well as cry and be vulnerable to some of the songs performed. Rodrigo also had many sections in this tour/movie where she included her fans to encourage more interaction between artist and fan. During her song, she sings, “All American Bi…,” as a way to encourage fans in the stadium to scream at the top of their lungs with her. She has also invited special and famous musicians, such as Chappel Roan, to perform at the concert before so that she could surprise her fans and keep her shows fresh each time.
“Olivia performed amazingly and interacted with the crowd. Overall it was the best concert experience,” Angelina Pang, another sophomore at Mark Keppel stated.
Regardless, the movie captured the memories from the concert into a film that fans can reminisce on anytime. Fans were able to watch Olivia Rodrigo perform some of their favorite songs while being in the comfort of their own home. The film also captured some of the special interactions the singer made with the crowd as well as showing the many emotions of her fans during the songs that she sang. Olivia Rodrigo’s followers were very excited about the new movie coming out as they were finally getting to have the excitement of watching Rodrigo perform on TV. This feature of Olivia Rodrigo’s tour emphasizes how much she cares for her fans and how much she loves and appreciates them. This movie provides a special experience for fans who were unable to go to her concert, yet still felt as if the singer was there.
