The devastating wildfires that happened in Los Angeles have negatively impacted the community of Los Angeles. These tragic fires first happened on Jan. 7, 2025 and lasted about two weeks. However, the wildfires have left some people without homes and has the community wondering what they are going to do next. Luckily, the Los Angeles community has organized a fire-aid concert. This concert took place at both the Kia Forum and the Intuit Dome where people were able to donate to those who were deeply affected by the fires. The concert was a great opportunity to bring people together as well as help our community out with the tragic event that happened.
“The idea of having a concert for a scary event was a great idea as it brought so many people together,” Katelyn Ho, a sophomore at Mark Keppel.
The concert took place on Thursday, January 30, and was also live-streamed on YouTube by many singers who participated in the event such as Jelly Roll and Gwen Stefani. Netflix also has a video so that people who couldn’t attend the concert could still watch the performances and donate money to those who are in need. Many talented and well-known singers were a part of the Fire Aid Benefit Concert including Tate McRae, Olivia Rodrigo, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and more. These artists came together to sing many popular and trending songs such as “You Broke Me First” by Tate McRae and “Firework” by Katy Perry. Overall, this event turned out to be pretty successful.
“I love how many popular artists took the time to come together to perform in a concert and help out the people living in Los Angeles,” Zoey Wang, a sophomore at Mark Keppel stated.
Even though the city of Los Angeles went through a hard time, our community found a way to try their best to help the people who were directly affected by these wildfires. Holding a concert for this event was a good way to bring people together and also bring further awareness on how these fires deeply affected people. The positivity that was spread throughout the evening gave people a sense of hope and happiness, and the concert truly showed how important it is to help each other out, especially through difficult times like these.
