Ever since President Donald Trump’s inauguration, The Trump Administration declares its purpose to reshape our nation. In spite of that, on the late evening of Monday, January 27, President Donald Trump and his Administration brought the announcement of freezing financial aid, including federal aid, grants, insurances, and student loans. The announcement brought confusion towards nonprofit organizations and programs regarding health coverage, local housing, and the education department.
The Administration’s set of plans had also set off widespread anxiety towards individuals, especially those who are currently enrolled in college. According to CBS News, “Any kind of federal financial aid is incredibly harmful to working families just trying to pay for college.” And by its claim to how Americans rely on financial aid, potential dangers can include being unable to afford rent, pay expenses, and the inability for nonprofits and schools to access federal funding. To those aware, the executive order cut federal funding for any school asserting “pushing critical race theory, transgender insanity and other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content onto the lives of our children.”
It was not until Tuesday, that The White House had temporarily paused regarding the subject, followed by a notice regarding the Administration rescinding the memo the next day. The memo specifies that the pause sent miscommunications on the said confusion sparked by media, as it states that it doesn’t affect assistance, benefits, or insurance towards individuals.
