For the Fall play, The Mark Keppel High School Theatre Company is doing “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare. Auditions were on Aug. 18 and ended on Aug. 19.
Rai Xiang, who plays Gregory said, “The audition process is straightforward. You study your character before the audition. When the time for auditions comes, you’ll perform in front of the director and others auditioning in your group.”
Jayden Diep, a senior at Mark Keppel High School who is playing Romeo, said, “I feel honored, yet a bit anxious to have been able to take on such a large role.” He also commented, “I am so excited to meet with the rest of the cast. I’m also excited for the fight scenes!”
Sabrina Ge, who is playing Juliet, and is also a senior at Mark Keppel High School said, “Romeo and Juliet has been my favorite Shakespeare story since freshman year. When I heard that it was this year’s play, I immediately knew I wanted to audition.” She added, “I am definitely very nervous about being Juliet…But I am extremely grateful for this opportunity.”
The Theatre Company started their rehearsals on Aug. 21. The school exclusive show is on Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. and the public shows are on Oct. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. The next production will be “Legally Blonde.”
