Pho-ever in my Mind: A Review

Nestled in the corner of the Hellman and Garfield, tucked next to the Circle K, is a new Vietnamese fusion restaurant by the name of Phoever. This family-owned restaurant is run by Hanli Su and her mother Lani Nguyen. The family runs two other Phoever locations located in Gardena and Little Tokyo. While these locations were more traditional, Phoever Alhambra was created for Nguyen to be able to express her culinary creativity. The menu differs from the other locations’, featuring more unique, eye-catching dishes.

The star of their menu is obviously their pho, which is served with their 16 hour broth. There are many different options, including an option to customize your own pho. However, the most stunning dish at this location is the Butterfly Pea Sticky Rice. The rice is tinted a gorgeous bright blue color and is served with different proteins such as mushrooms, pork, and chicken. And to wash it all down is their Strawberry Dream, which is a delightful concoction of strawberries and yakult.

Their interior is small, yet clean and chic, completely redone by the new owners. Serving around 40 people at a time, the family has redecorated the space to make it their own. Having redone the outside seating area, they have also started a nighttime tea bar outside, NBeyond. Serving various drinks and snacks, this tea bar opens from 8pm-12am.

In conclusion, Phoever makes for a great dinner spot to go with your friends and family when you’re in need of a hearty, Vietnamese “home cooked” meal. Their nighttime tea bar also makes for a fun place to explore with your friends on late night adventures. The Aztec News rates this restaurant a 10/10.
