On Friday, Mar. 6, pop star Harry Styles officially released his fourth solo album after a three-year break. Styles took this time to focus on his personal life and recover from 13 years of non-stop work.
“I wanted to take a break and kind of assess, and close that chapter of my life,” Styles said in a recent interview with Zane Lowe.
This album highlights the longing for an intimate connection and being in the spotlight for most of his life. Harry expresses that what he does is all for the fans.
“They’re the most honest, so I think for me it’s about remaining honest in my response to that,” Styles explained in an interview with Brittany Broski.
Many listeners have expressed that this new album is more of a disco, dancing vibe. Music critics see this as Styles turning a new leaf as he matures into his career.
The album includes 12 songs in total, featuring genres such as Pop rock, Synth-pop, Dance-pop, and Electro-funk. “American Girls” became the most popular track from “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally by Harry Styles,” debuting at Number 1 on the Streaming Songs chart and earning more than 8.3 million global streams on Spotify during its first week!
Riley Medrano, a senior at Mark Keppel was thrilled to listen to Styles’ new album. She shared, “My favorite song was ‘Ready Steady Go’. I’m hoping to see a lot of dancing at his shows, just like at his other concerts. It’s the kind of song that makes everyone feel energetic and want to get up and move.”
Another student, Isabella Larson, a freshman at Mark Keppel, says that her favorite track is “Coming Up Roses.”
“While I’m listening to the album, I feel a whirlwind of emotions, ranging from happiness and an upbeat vibe, to a deeper sort of longing,” Larson said. “I would love to see him go deeper into a storyline at his concerts and bring back that classic confetti that we all know and love.”
Fans are excited to see what Styles will bring as he enters this new stage in his career. Lately, Harry Styles has been appearing in more interviews and even showing up in comedy skits on Saturday Night Live, showing a different and more playful side of himself.
