Choir Concert

The Choral Department of Mark Keppel proudly presented the concert “Winter Wonderland,” a captivating showcase featuring all choir classes in collaboration with the orchestra. The winter concert commenced at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 1, in the school’s auditorium. The two hour-long show featured numerous songs performed by Keppel’s exceptionally skilled vocalists and instrumentalists.
The concert displayed a myriad of group, duet, and solo performances, showcasing the abilities of the performers. They delivered clear interpretations of songs like “Fantasia,” “Eatnemen Vuelie,” and “Peace Peace.” Not only was the show limited to favorite classics but also modern hits, with songs by artists such as Radiohead and Adele, fulfilling the musical preferences of the students. Throughout the whole concert, festive elements unfolded, revealing a mixture of musical skill and harmony between the performers.
The winter concert included the participation of the mixed chorus, concert choir, vocal ensemble, baritone chorus, treble chorus, and orchestra. Junior choir member Chloe Chung said, “We’ve actively been getting ready for the concert for a month or two.” Orchestra supported the performance of the show with “violin one, [violin] two, viola, cello, string bass, percussion, and winds,” said Aiden Chou, a sophomore. Additionally, tech theater assisted from behind the scenes, in charge of lighting, sound, and stage props.
In discussing the collaborative performance, Lina Ortiz, (Choir Vice President), shared some desires of hers.“If possible, we’d love to make ourselves more known as a department because we’ve been really trying to get ourselves out there,” Ortiz stated. The winter concert successfully allowed them to gain recognition and unveil their capabilities.
The Choral Department created a lasting impact from the concert, thanks to the diligent members who pulled off an amazing performance. This concert, “Winter Wonderland,” radiated a festive and joyful spirit for the upcoming holidays. The unique, yet classic song choices paired with each vocalist and instrumentalist led the show to be even more memorable for the audience.
