1/18 Morning Lockdown

On January 18th, from 8 to 9 a.m., Alhambra police confronted an armed domestic violence suspect on the Almansor Bridge next to Mark Keppel High School. The suspect held a gun to his head and made suicidal gestures and statements. Fortunately, the police were able to negotiate with him and arrest him for charges of domestic violence.

Due to how close the incident was to MKHS, the Alhambra Police Department requested that the school go into lockdown for the safety of students and staff, as well as for the suspect. No students or staff were in harms way and when the lockdown ended classes resumed as usual.
