The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2025 World Series against the Blue Jays in a major back and forth battle that lasted for seven games. The Dodgers, in terms of record, were the third best team going into the playoffs in their league, while the Blue Jays were the best in their league.
The matchup between the two didn’t disappoint with one of the games going 18 innings, lasting six hours and 39 minutes. The second longest to the 18 inning game was in 2018 between the Red Sox and the Dodgers. Games 6 and 7 in Toronto were very high staked games because Toronto only needed one win to top the defending champs. The Dodgers showed their toughness, which was led by Japanese player Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Yamamoto had pitched 17.2 innings in three games. He was credited with the win in each of these games and his performance was marked as one of the most legendary in World Series history.
After the final out, the celebration for the Dodgers started with them popping champagne in the locker room. The celebration continued until November 3, where the team paraded the streets of Los Angeles. An estimated 250,000 fans were in attendance, bigger than last year’s parade. The parade started at Temple Street and Broadway and continued all the way back to Dodger Stadium. The players were able to speak to the fans at the stadium, sharing their excitement for winning the World Series two times in a row which hasn’t been done since the 2000 New York Yankees.
Students at Keppel had a lot to say about the historic win. Many had a lot of expectations and emotions going into this World Series.
“I was expecting the Dodgers to win it within the first five games and wasn’t expecting the series to drag on for as long as it did.” Ethan Alvarado, a senior at Mark Keppel, said. “I ran around the house with my dad cheering out into the street.”
Nathan Chang, a junior at Mark Keppel, said, “My expectations for the World Series was for Ohtani to do good and for the Dodgers to win… I was happy and excited.”
