“28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” was released on Friday, Jan. 16, and was directed by Nia DaCosta. The movie is a sequel to “28 Years Later,” which was released last year. The film follows young survivor Spike, who was introduced in the previous “28 Years Later,” Dr. Ian Kelson, infected Alpha Samson, and cult leader Jimmy Crystal in a post-apocalyptic world. The film is highly rated with a 93% Rotten Tomatoes critic score.
Ashley Hernandez, a junior at Keppel, said, “Samson’s arc was beautiful. The Doctor delivered an incredible performance as the lead Jimmy.”
Although many applaud the film for being better than its predecessor, others dislike the film for it being poorly written and having some unnecessary scenes. Unlike the previous films, it had a slower-paced atmosphere, creating various tensions throughout the film.
Julie Rivera, a senior at Keppel, said, “It was really interesting but at times the gore felt just too excessive and not super needed for the storyline.”
Overall, if you are interested in gory horror zombie movies, this is the film for you. The film’s high critic ratings, dark tone, and style make it a must watch. On the other hand, if you are uncomfortable with excessive graphic violence, I would greatly advise you to steer clear of this movie.
