Mark Keppel High School has announced their 2026 prom theme, Hollywood on Overdrive. This exciting theme focuses on the intense glamour of Old Hollywood, cinema, and automobiles. It blends speed fast cars with fantastic award shows like the Oscars. It will take place on May 1st, 2026. It will be hosted at The Peterson Automotive Museum from 7-11 pm. Many seniors and juniors have gotten their tickets already and are excited about attending the museum.
Mina Gutierrez, a sophomore at Keppel, is looking forward to the experience. She said, “It looks really cool. The location will be a great spot for photos.”
The museum is like a movie scene: bold, red, and with dramatic lighting. It is the perfect spot for the planned festivities, especially with the luxury and vintage cars that make it feel like you’re really in Old Hollywood. The theme seems to also be symbolic to the Seniors this year. This year has been fast approaching and unforgettable. Hosting the prom at a place so inspired by history will make the Seniors feel like they’re celebrating how far they have come.
Plenty of students are planning their looks and are thrilled about the ideas the theme brings. Looks may be inspired by celebrities or classic films. We may see people in satin gloves, black tuxes, and glittery gowns. Arriving at the museum will make the students feel like they are arriving at a movie premiere in their attire, walking the red carpet.
Senior Josephine Zheng said, “I already had a few choices I had been looking at for prom dress, but now knowing the theme I would probably go with darker colors and a classier look.”
The students attending won’t just be attending prom but starring in it with dramatic entrances, glowing exhibits, and high end cars. The idea of driving into the future ties the year up perfectly.
Zheng shared, “I think this prom theme is a cute idea and I’m very interested to enjoy this experience.”
The night will be full of nostalgia and blend the year of 2026 with elegance.
Another Senior, Lia Rosas, is excited for what the night will bring. She expressed, “I want to hear some Mexican rock, oldies, and R&B.”
The evening will be unforgettable for the students and remind them of the bright future ahead of them. The theme is a perfect way to celebrate everything they’ve accomplished, surrounded by speed and magic.
